University Heights is an important neighborhood developed from the 1930s through the 1950s. Newer homes were built in each successive addition described in the University Heights sub neighborhoods. Preston and Airline and Lovers Lane and Northwest Highway border University Heights. The size of the homes range from small one and a half story Tudor cottages designed in the late 1930s to one and a half story to two-story homes built in the early 1950s. Within University Heights you will find both Hyer and University Park Elementary Schools. Coffee Park, Curtis Park, Smith Park and Caruth Park are also all located within University Heights.
