Gaywood
10160 Gaywood represents one of the best values in Dallas. This Austin stone home is set on 1.29 acres of tall trees, private courtyards, view gardens, an expansive terraced lawn and pool. The distant view is the seemingly endless landscape of the 12 acre estate across the street. In this neighborhood which includes two of Dallas' largest estates, the homes blend into the lush surroundings. Less formal than city houses that hug the curb, 10160 Gaywood exemplifies the neighborhood.
Pegged plank floors and vaulted wood beams are found in the 900 square foot informal living room. Even the nearly 30 foot long formal dining room conveys warmth with its wood beam ceiling. The main house has over 9,500 square feet, the living quarters over a garage have over 500 square feet and there is still a 2,000 square foot guest house designed by James Pratt, FAIA, and built in 1985.
On the interior extensive wood is used including fielded oak wainscotting and chestnut plank paneling. Fireplaces with pine or oak mantels are found through the bedrooms and living spaces. Brick, marble, oak and pegged oak make up the floors.
