Highland Park West of Preston Neighborhood
Highland Park Dallas, Texas
As in most communities, the development grows north and west. In 1924 the west addition of Highland Park was developed. Neighborhoods west of Preston were developed in the second group of sections bounded by Preston Road on the east, Westway and Fairway on the south, the Tollway on the west and Mockingbird Lane on the north. There are still original and historic homes found from the 30s and 40s, but there is a greater sense of redevelopment and less patience. There is also a certain confidence when you are protected and cared for by the Highland Park police. On one side of the creek is Mount Vernon, on the other side of the creek is Preston Place. Click here to learn the boundaries and see pictures of the Highland Park historically significant homes and contemporary homes found in the two sections of the Highland Park North of Mockingbird neighborhood.

West Highland Park Neighborhood
Highland Park Dallas, Texas
This 100 acre Highland Park neighborhood of 1940s and 1950s houses is generally intact. The neighborhood receives all of the benefits of Highland Park with the exception of the Highland Park Independent School District. This neighborhood of mid century homes falls into the Dallas Independent School District. As a result, couples and individuals without children living at home are less inclined to tear down these small, but stylish homes to build something larger. This continues as a very fashionable neighborhood west of the Tollway. Click here to see pictures of the Highland Park historic homes and significant homes found in this Highland Park Area.
